How did you become a part of Elite CrossFit?
How I got to Elite is probably a pretty common story. After separating from the military I struggled with finding both drive and routine in the gym, however I did not have that struggle when it came to happy hour and my handy dandy pack of cigarettes. The end result of this was a very sexy beer gut and a doctor across from me telling me that I needed to be on cholesterol medication…at the ripe old age of 30. With that diagnosis I reached out to a friend who was a member at Elite and checked it out. I looked at a few other gyms as well but ultimately settled on Elite. Being a member/coach at Elite has been the catalyst to where I am now in life. I met my lovely wife while we were in the on-ramp class, I’ve never been healthier in my life, and we have a social network that not only is unbelievably supportive but also motivating and kind. As downward spirals go, there’s no telling where I’d be today without the kick in the ass that I got that first week at Elite.
How has training/coaching at Elite helped you become the person you were meant to be?
Something most don’t know: This is not nearly as interesting as it could be, for those that know me know that I’m pretty open about everything…to a fault no doubt ha ha ha. But There are at least some that won’t know that I’m half Norwegian and that it’s a heritage that I’m very proud of. Half of my family is there and we visit as often as we can. Scandinavians are a very family oriented culture which is hard to replicate here in the States. I liken our community at Elite to that culture and it helps me keep at least some of that culture alive here.
